5 reasons why it's God's will to heal

“And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son…”
Hebrews 1:2 NLT

God is a Healer! It’s His very nature (Ex. 15:26). If you are in need of healing or want to step into healing ministry, you’ve got to know that healing is what God wants to do! Regardless of bad experiences, seemingly unanswered prayers or just wrong theology, Jesus is still the same yesterday, today and forever. I want to stir your faith through scripture and testimonies to believe God for the miraculous!

I had just got done leading a healing training class and our group went to lunch at Round Table Pizza. As I walked by a family, this man’s back and hips were highlighted to me so I stopped, greeted them, asked if he had pain there and if I could pray.

The guy proceeds to tell me that he had a little cyst or growth on his back, takes my hand and puts it there! I started praying and the thing dissolved in my hand!

Come on Jesus! He even wanted to take a picture with me and his whole family!

Jesus is still in the healing and miracle business today!

I love how Bill Johnson says that “Jesus is perfect theology.”

Hebrews 1 says that Jesus is the exact representation of God and John 1:14 says Jesus is God’s Word made flesh - the invisible thoughts and heart of God becoming visible in the life of Christ!

So it’s fitting that we filter everything through the Person of Jesus.

That being said, here’s why it’s God’s will to heal.

1. Jesus said it

In Mark 1:40-42 there’s a story of a man with leprosy who comes to Jesus to get healed. He says to Jesus, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

He didn’t doubt Jesus “can do”, he was appealing to His “want to.”

Jesus told him - “I am willing.”

It was a declaration not only for this man - but for all - that God is willing to heal!

He wants to heal you!
He wants to use you to heal!

One thing you gotta know if you want to step into healing ministry is that it is beyond a shadow of a doubt God’s will to heal.

“If it is not God's will for you to be well, it would be wrong for you to seek recovery even through natural means. If it is God's will for you to be well, then it is only logical that the best way of recovery is by divine means.”
T. L. Osborn

2. Jesus did it

Epilepsy, the paralyzed, demon-possessed, leprosy, fever, dead, excessive blood flow, blind, mute, withered hand, deaf, a lady whose back wouldn’t straighten, and even put the ear back on the guy whose ear Peter cut off…

Matthew 4:23 (NIV)
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.

I remember as I was praying for some people at a service, my right hand began to warm up supernaturally. I had my hand on this girl’s shoulder so I asked her if she needed healing. She ended up needing healing in her back, so we prayed and God healed her!

But then I felt like there was also something going on where she wasn’t able to have kids. She said that she was diagnosed with pre-cancerous cells on her uterus. We prayed and later she reported that she went back to the doctor and she was totally healed!

Let’s follow Jesus into His healing ministry!

3. Jesus told us to pray for it

Jesus taught us to pray: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”

Part of the Kingdom of God and the will of God being done on earth just like it is in heaven is seeing the sick made well!

The kingdom of God takes dominion over sickness, pain, and disease.

When Jesus was healing the sick, the dominion of the kingdom was being established. There’s no pain or sickness in heaven, so let it be the same here!

One time at the Fire & Glory Outpouring the power of God touched this man who had a fused ankle. He had zero degree mobility because of the 5 pins that were in it. God touched him and he got all his mobility back and ran across the platform!

Talk about heaven invading earth!

4. Jesus paid for it

Isaiah 53:4-5 (NKJV)
Surely He has borne (to lift, to carry, to take away) our griefs (sickness, disease) And carried(bear, carry, transport a load) our sorrows(pain, suffering, sorrow); Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace (wholeness) was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

I added in parenthesis for a more expanded definition of these words.

Bottom line, when people get healed, it’s the enforcing of what Jesus bought for us at the cross!

During leading worship one time, I felt the Lord say that there was someone who couldn’t have a baby and that we needed to pray for them. My friend came forward, received prayer - and long story short she and her husband have 4 awesome kids now!

He paid for your healing!

5. Jesus told us to do it

In Mark 16:18, Jesus included healing ministry in the Great Commission!

He told us to do it!

In His command is our empowerment and authority!

Healing ministry demonstrates the reality of God to people and in doing so is a vehicle to get the love of God to them!

I remember praying for a young girl who had a leg shorter than the other. Her short leg grew out and she just began to cry. It was a sign of His love for her!

Another time, I was in a hut church in Uganda, and we invited the sick to come forward for healing. This crippled lady scooted to the front (she didn’t have a wheelchair). My friend and I prayed for her and asked her to do something she couldn’t do before.

She hobbled up on her feet and started dancing! Thank You Jesus!

Just to let you know, I’m not sure what I’m doing all the time, but God still does amazing things. He can and will use you to heal the sick! You just gotta step out and take a risk.

And if you need healing, it IS God’s will for you to be healed. It’s demonstrated in the life of Jesus - the perfect and exact representation of God. So be healed in Jesus name!

Question: How have you seen God demonstrate His power to heal?
