Power to Heal, part 1: Healing is God's Will

“Being deeply moved with tender compassion, Jesus reached out and touched the skin of the leper and told him, “Of course I want you to be healed—so now, be cleansed!”
Mark 1:41 TPT

God wants to raise up an army of believers who walk in the healing power of God.

Healing was an essential part of Jesus’ earthly ministry. Everywhere He went He released the healing touch of God. Not just emotional, medical, or inner healing - although that’s great and something God does - I’m talking about healing miracles that remove the pains, sickness, and diseases in people’s physical bodies. If you’re in need of healing or want to step into healing ministry, the first thing you need to know is that it is God’s will to heal.

Last year, I was doing a live-stream event with a great church and God highlighted a young lady to me to pray for. I saw her playing sports and asked if she did that. She told me she did but could no longer do it because of a blood condition called iron deficiency anemia which caused lethargy.

I realized I was in a God-ordained moment since just a week before that I was talking with some friends about another young man who got healed of anemia!

I briefly shared the testimony and prayed for her healing; her mother prayed as well.

A month later the report came back that she stopped taking her medications believing she was healed. After a blood test, her test results came back saying her iron levels were normal!

Healed in Jesus name! Praise God.

God wants to release His healing touch in and through your life!

Here’s how we know healing is God’s will:

1. Healing is part of our salvation

“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows...
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 NKJV

The word for “griefs” can be translated as sickness and the word for “sorrows” can also be translated as pain.

When Isaiah prophesied about what the Messiah would do, he included carrying away our sickness and pain!  And by His stripes, or wounds, we are healed.

Physical healing and health are part of the plan of salvation! The Greek word for “salvation” (Rom. 1:16) is rooted in the word sozo which encompasses rescue from sins and freedom in spirit, soul, and body.

So when you received Jesus and the gift of salvation, you received forgiveness of sins, freedom from torment, and healing in your body.

Bottom line, Jesus paid for you to be healed at the cross because God wants you well.

2. Healing is part of the Kingdom

The most common message Jesus preached was the Kingdom of God.

Jesus told His disciples in Luke 10:9 NIV:
“Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’”

Healing and health are part of the demonstration of the Kingdom. When the Kingdom shows up, healing comes with it. It demonstrates the greater reality of Christ’s rulership.

He reigns and dominates over every sickness, disease, and torment.

3. Healing is in God’s nature

In Exodus 15:26 God revealed Himself to Israel as “The Lord Who Heals.”

The makeup of the Hebrew words there actually attaches healing to the name of God - meaning that healing is part of who God is.

It’s not just something He does, it’s who He is.
He is our healing, He is our health.

It’s fitting that Jesus, God made flesh - the invisible God made visible - came demonstrating that same healing nature.

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”
Matthew 4:23 NIV

Healing ministry boils down to the love of God. As my friend Jerame Nelson says, “Miracles are a vehicle to get the love of God to people.”

Jesus was often moved with compassion as He healed the sick.

If you’re in need of a healing miracle or you want to step into healing ministry, take a moment to soak in the love of God.

Open your hands and say, “Thank You Father for loving me.”

All that theology comes down to this: God heals people because He loves them.
Healing is God’s will because it’s another way to demonstrate His love.
